10 Months and other fun stuff
10 months, 50 some odd days until her first birthday. Someone hold me. I can't handle it. She's growing by leaps and bounds. It's unreal. She is so freaking funny and she knows it. She'll ham it up for anyone who will watch. She's got the greatest laugh when she pulls off something funny. It's different from her giggly, someone else is funny. It's literally a Ha Ha Ha. The girl still will not crawl. I have the feeling she's going to skip it completely and go straight to walking. She loves to stand and walk holding on to someones fingers. She wants to eat any and everything. She's got a fabulous appetite. There's not much that she doesn't like. It's easy to tell when she doesn't though. She'll smash it with her fists and then drop it off the side of her high chair. The cats and dogs don't mind. LOL No teeth yet, which is fine since I'm still nursing and have no idea if she'll be a biter or not. She's a pincher. I'm not sure she even realizes she does it, but boy does it hurt. No words yet either. She 'whispers' Papa. She 'says' Mama when she's upset. She's been trying to Bok at the chickens when she sees them. So far it's just mouth movement and no sound. Silly girl.

Falling off the blogging wagon.
I'm good at reading blogs, but turns out I'm not so good at keeping mine current.
Let's see, as you can imagine, lots has been going on. The month of March has been especially fun and busy. Lot's of birthdays (my Mom, and my 2 pugs), a couple anniversaries (our 2nd wedding anni. and 1 year in our house) and of course Nora is doing all kinds of fun things.
She'll be 8 months next week. That blows my mind. She still has zero interest in trying to crawl. She just started pulling herself up....unfortunately it's only been while in the tub. Not the safest place to test your skills. She likes to sit on the stairs and scoot her buns forward until she's able to stand up, either holding on to the wall or on to whoever is sitting there with her. She LOVES to shriek in delight. She cracks herself up while doing it. Sometimes she makes herself cough from shrieking and then that cracks her up all over again. She's trying some new foods that aren't purees and seems to be digging them. Pasta, mum mums, yogurt melts, chunks of fruit, bread, etc. All in all she's just a joy to be around. Her sleep still sucks. I've attempted her crib a few times, without success. For now it's still the best situation to have her sleep with me. We both enjoy it, so I guess if it's not broke, don't fix it.......for now. The stranger anxiety is still in effect. If she's in my arms all is well. She smile and talk and flirt with anyone. If Dad is holding her, or no one is holding her, as soon as anyone comes in to her line of sight, she freaks out. Even if they are fairly familiar. She wants the safety of my arms or no deal.
I have lots of pictures to upload and am not finding much time to do so. Hopefully there will be a picture heavy post soon.

Let's play another round of catch up, shall we?!...
I thought once I got back to work I'd resume regular blogging, since that seems to be when I have the most free time. When I got back to work I had unknowingly gotten a new computer. This new computer didn't want to recognize my camera. Then that didn't matter after awhile as I've gotten a new camera. It's fancy-dancy and I'm not as willing to lug it around like I did the other one. And for whatever reason, a post just isn't really a post without photos....
Anyhoo, let's catch up since November. Christmas brought lots of family in to our home, which was awesome. Nora got to meet her Grandpa and her Uncle from Mississippi. It was a super short visit, which sucks, but a little time is better than no time. The last time I saw my Dad was almost 2 years ago at my wedding. Nora, of course made out like a bandit. Everyone way over did it, but you only have your first Christmas once, right?!
New Years Eve was wild, just kidding. The baby and I were asleep by 7:30. She was sweet enough to wake me at 11:58, just in time for a New Years kiss :)
She's becoming even more vocal, chatting at everyone and everything. She also likes to growl (my fault, I'm a growler). She just this week has mastered the raspberry. It's hilarious. She sticks her lips waaaay out and blows so hard her face turns red. She's sitting up on her own with the occasional topple to the side, whereupon I can't help but yell out "TIMBER!" instead of reaching out to catch her. The girl is a jumping fiend. That's all she wants to do. She's started solids. It was a slow beginning, she wasn't too sure, but now is eating fairly well twice a day. She far prefers fruits to vegetables.
She turns 6 months tomorrow and has her Dr.s appt. I will have her stats then.

One Year Ago Today
Exactly one year ago today I found out I was pregnant. What a busy and fantastic year it has been. We moved and bought a house, we celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary, and we had a beautiful baby girl. We sure know how to pack in a lot in a little amount of time :)
I keep fighting the urge to say "I can't wait for x, y, z...." in regards to Nora. But in all honesty I can wait, and I want to savor every moment and not rush to the next milestone. It's only now once!
P.S. - Just look at those thighs. Sweet little pork chops! I just want to cover them in applesauce and eat 'em up. LOL

Daycare
With starting back to work last week, we had to leave Nora with a sitter. I've known all along that a great friend was going to be watching her. Although I was not looking forward to being without her, I knew this friend was someone who I felt very comfortable with. I really made an effort to not get worked up and not make it a big deal in hopes it would be an easy transition for both of us. All was well until a week before I was to go back to work Nora decided to completely refuse the bottle. When I say completely, I mean full on hysteric crying if she even saw a bottle let alone try to get it in her mouth. Up until this point she'd taken them with no problem. Granted, she hadn't had that many, but it was not an issue when she did. So great, now I had one week to attempt to break her of this habit. Let's just say I was not successful. Last week she ate 3 out of the 5 days, and it was only an ounce or two and with a huge fight. She fights her naps every single day and by the time I pick her up she passes out in my arms. I know it's only been a week and a few days, but I hate thinking she's over there upset and I can't do anything for her. I certainly hope she falls in to a rhythm sooner rather than later. It just breaks my heart. Everyday has been harder and harder for me to drop her off. I've got 30 minutes left today before I can pick her up and my heart is pounding in anticipation. Awww....

The Blur that has been the last 3 months....
Alright, let's see how I do at catching up.
First, as per the birth story below, Miss Nora Rose was born on August 2nd, 2010 via c-section after a looooong labor.

She was a very alert baby from the get go and has continued to be so.

Dad was completely smitten at first sight. There is no doubt that baby is his as she looks JUST like him. Right down to her webbed toes that she shares with her Daddy.

After a few days recovering in the hospital we got to come home. That was a huge relief. I'd never stayed in a hospital before and it was just a miserable as I assumed it would be. It was wonderful to get home and get in to a routine.

We got settled in and did all the new baby things. Her belly button stump fell off, she got her first bath, and we had lots of visitors who brought food! Win-win!

She's been super strong and quickly mastered holding up her head and so we got her a Bumbo seat. She was not impressed.

We also attempted to master Tummy Time, which quickly pisses her off and turns in to Nap Time.

Then we finally captured her smiling on camera. She can be all smiles and cooing and then you break out the camera and POOF, it ends.

Then she grew a mustache.....just kidding!

But she did finally find her thumb. Thumb sucking lasted all of about a week and then she decided it was for babies and hasn't done it since.

Somewhere in all of this I turned 35 and Keith turned 30. Did I mention they look exactly alike. I'm fairly certain I have hollow eggs...

Then more recently she's almost been eaten by an alligator,....kidding again

mastered Tummy Time and Nap Time

And that leads us to current days of Halloween where she tried her hand at pumpkin carving and inspected the candy to make sure it was safe for her neighborhood friends.

Now here I sit, my second day back to work. Baby girl did great at the sitter yesterday and I've gotten my update already today that she's sound asleep. I think I've about summed it up. She's a dream come true.
